Introduction
Following the 2021 forum held under the theme of ‘Unfolding a New Northeast Asian Peace and Security Plan’, in 2024,
the Pyeongtaek International Peace and Security Forum will be held to emphasize ‘multilateral cooperation and efforts’ to seek ‘peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia’ along with ‘expanding the vision of Pyeongtaek City’ toward the future, taking into account a ‘comprehensive perspective’ approach that citizens can empathize with based on ‘the situation on the Korean Peninsula after the US presidential election’.
This forum is part of the government’s efforts to ‘search for solutions in each field of
security, diplomacy, and defense’ in line with the ‘New Cold War Era’ surrounding the Korean Peninsula, and will be held in two sessions to promote ‘Pyeongtaek-type small-theme development’ linked to the tangible and intangible heritages of Pyeongtaek City, such as culture, economy, and civil society.
